The teams are set for the 2026 Presidents Cup, with captains Brandt Snedeker and Geoff Ogilvy finalising their line-ups ahead of the biennial clash at Medinah Country Club in Chicago from September 25.
The headline selection came from Team USA, where rising star Jackson Koivun earned a surprise captain's pick after a remarkable start to his professional career. The 21-year-old only turned professional three months ago but has already made headlines by winning the 3M Open in just his third PGA Tour start.
Koivun's rapid rise has been one of the stories of the season. He becomes the first player since Jordan Spieth in 2013 to make a Presidents Cup team after beginning the year without a PGA Tour card.
Joining Koivun as a Presidents Cup debutant is Jacob Bridgeman, while Snedeker's remaining captain's picks were Chris Gotterup, Xander Schauffele, Justin Thomas and Patrick Cantlay. The six selections join automatic qualifiers Scottie Scheffler, Cameron Young, Wyndham Clark, Sam Burns, Russell Henley and Collin Morikawa.
One notable omission was world No. 22 Ryan Gerard, who entered the conversation following a strong finish to the season, including a third-place result at the Tour Championship.
For the International Team, captain Geoff Ogilvy also turned to fresh talent, selecting Colombian Nico Echavarria, Japan's Ryo Hisatsune and Canada's Nick Taylor as captain's picks. They join Corey Conners, Sungjae Im and Christiaan Bezuidenhout to complete the squad.
Leading the International Team once again is Adam Scott, who will make his 12th consecutive Presidents Cup appearance. The Australian veteran is joined by fellow Australian Min Woo Lee, Japan's Hideki Matsuyama, South Korea's Si Woo Kim and reigning Open Champion Ryan Fox.
While Team USA enters the event seeking an 11th consecutive Presidents Cup victory, Scott believes the International Team is building momentum at exactly the right time.
Speaking ahead of the Tour Championship, Scott highlighted the recent success of several International players, including Ryan Fox's Open Championship victory, Tom Kim's Scottish Open win, Min Woo Lee's runner-up finish and Si Woo Kim's consistently strong season.
That recent form has given Scott confidence that the International Team can challenge for one of the biggest upsets in Presidents Cup history.
"What a great time of year as far as the Presidents Cup goes to have guys in form," Scott said. "That's certainly exciting as we go to Medinah and try and win this thing."
With both teams boasting a blend of proven stars and exciting newcomers, the stage is set for another compelling Presidents Cup as golf's best Americans take on the world's top international players later this month.
The 2028 Presidents Cup will return to our shores, and take place at the Kingston Heath Golf Club in Melbourne.
